The Opioid Response Network: Developing a Shared Language For Diversity, Equity and Inclusion training is to provide you with an opportunity to enhance your knowledge and awareness of diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) issues. We will explore the potential impact of these issues on our beliefs towards those with backgrounds different from our own and how those beliefs can impact the people we serve and the continuum of care for substance use disorder. This training is an opportunity to reflect on ways to create more welcoming and inclusive places of business for our staff and clients, as well as look at ways organizations can support DEI efforts.
In this training, we will focus on:
- Reviewing baseline language to ground us in a shared understanding of DEI issues
- Exploring equity data on the impact of DEI issues on health care access, experiences, and outcomes
- Unpacking myths about DEI and those impacted by these issues
- Reviewing situational examples and their implications for opioid and substance use disorder
The accompanying Reflection Workbook provides space for you to respond to the questions asked throughout the training and could potentially be used in small groups as people debrief and dialog around the issues raised.
